REFLECTION

Throughout this module, I have gained a deeper understanding of design principles as a foundation for creating good artworks and their crucial role in making designs visually appealing. My previous artworks focused only on the final design outcome, but this module emphasized more on theory and research, allowing me to approach design with a more structured perspective.

The aspect I enjoyed the most was the challenge of analyzing various design works and improvising a poster. This process helped me develop my skills and creativity by experimenting with different design styles and compositions and applying design principles to my work. The feedback provided by Dr. Jinchi was also very helpful in improving my artwork, and I was happy to deepen my understanding of design principles through these insights.

However, I found few aspects of the module that quite challenging, particularly in finalizing my own artwork. Since I had never created an environmental awareness poster before, it was difficult to balance strong design principles while ensuring the poster remained visually engaging and effectively conveyed its message. Additionally, I sometimes faced dilemmas in choosing the best approach for my final design. I also struggled with selecting a suitable typeface, as I realized the significant impact typography has on the overall design. Through this experience, I learned that I must pay closer attention to typography in my future work.

This module has helped me recognize the importance of a strong theoretical foundation in improving my designs. My perspective on artwork has shifted, I no longer see designs only from an aesthetic standpoint but also analyze how design principles are applied. However, my personal drawing style and design taste remain unchanged.

Now, I ensure that my artworks are not only visually appealing but also effectively communicate their message by applying design principles into my artworks. My aspiration is to refine my skills further and become a better designer, that produce high-quality artworks that reflects a deep understanding of design principles.
